“passages (when life comes full circle)” on 06 December, 2008
circles have always engaged me for their ability to encompass all that surrounds them...the perfect container...they easily move from a simple ring to the complex sphere in which we live...when listening to music or daydreaming I close my eyes and circles appear behind my eyelids...I attempt to capture them in their several lives of my vision...my memory bank is full of little dot comics and multitudes of dot to dot puzzles...my only punctuation is an ellipses...i think there is a strong connection between the visual and the verbal...the small space between writing and painting
most of this work is encaustic...pigmented beeswax and heat are the basis of this media...the process dates back to the egyptian period several BC...it is enjoying a revival due to modern technology being able to reduce the danger involved...i love wax...it is pliable, beautiful, and forgiving...my studio smells like honey
